Double flow ventilation system
The double-flow mechanical ventilation system significantly improves indoor air quality, provides excellent thermal comfort in the living space, and helps reduce energy bills. France Ventilation offers a wide range of double-flow ventilation systems, including self-regulating, humidity-controlled, and high-efficiency models from Unelvent and Vortice brands.

How to choose a double-flow mechanical ventilation system?
Choosing a double-flow mechanical ventilation system requires considering several factors.
The efficiency of the system determines the amount of heat recovered by the heat exchanger. A higher efficiency allows for better heating of the home while reducing heating costs. France Ventilation offers high-efficiency double-flow VMC units suitable for small and large homes. The IDEO 325 VMC unit, for example, features a high-performance heat exchanger with a 92% efficiency, making it ideal for new homes ranging from T2 to T9 or larger.
The airflow rate of the VMC determines the volume of air supplied. It should be determined based on the number of humid rooms where air will be extracted and the number of living spaces where air will be distributed. Maintaining a balance between incoming and outgoing air is crucial to avoid issues of pressure imbalance in the home. When considering airflow rate, it’s important to choose between an autoréglable VMC, where the airflow remains constant, or a hygroréglable VMC, where the airflow adjusts based on the humidity level in the room. The hygroréglable option tends to be more energy-efficient.
Some double-flow VMC systems are equipped with a By-pass feature. This allows the ventilation system to adjust the indoor temperature based on the season. The By-pass system helps cool the rooms in summer and warm them in winter.
Where to install a double-flow mechanical ventilation system?
A double-flow mechanical ventilation system is more effective in homes with very good thermal insulation. It is therefore ideal for newly constructed homes with stricter thermal and insulation criteria. For example, in passive houses, this type of mechanical ventilation is mandatory.
Furthermore, the double-flow ventilation system should be installed in an easily accessible location. Its placement facilitates maintenance tasks such as filter replacement, inspections, and possible repairs.
Additionally, to avoid noise disturbances, it is not recommended to install your mechanical ventilation system near bedrooms.
Quelle gaine utiliser pour une VMC double flux ?
A double-flow mechanical ventilation system consists of a network of two ducts. This network allows for the circulation of heated air to be distributed throughout the different rooms. For this purpose, these ducts should have excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. When installing a double-flow ventilation system, it is preferable to use rigid and smooth ducts. In cases where space is limited, oval conduits are available to facilitate installation. Additionally, the diameter of the ducts should match that of the vents and connections.
